friday night date night

We typically do something on Friday nights.
Sometimes its something totally awesome, and sometimes its just curling up on the couch and watching a Redbox movie.
Last night, Friday night date night took us on one of our most romantic adventures yet:

Makes my heart melt just thinking about it.
Okay, maybe not.

Anyway, since the weather's getting warmer, Ty and I are starting to think about all the outdoor projects we want to get done in the yard this year.
The main things on our list are:
1. Get a shed.
2. Tear down our ugly chain-link fence and put up a nicer, wooden one.
3. Stain our decks.
4. Get a pergola for over our patio.

So we headed to Ty's idea of the "perfect date location" to start preparing our minds for what all of this will cost us. This is the shed we picked out...and we didn't even argue about it! We both totally agreed that this was the perfect choice.

And clearly, Ty missed his calling as a shed model.

We also picked out the fencing we want, and have someone coming out to give us a quote.
AND...we picked out the pergola we want. We're well on our way to getting our yard the way we want it.

It was more fun than I had initially thought it would be.
But I hope that Friday Night Date Night doesn't take us back to Lowe's for awhile.

that's what i love about sundays

-Extra morning cuddles in bed before getting up.
-Going to church and worshipping with my hubby.
-Quick trips to my parents' house for a gift from Dad and a warm slice of banana bread from Mom.
-Sitting outside in the sun on a beautiful day with a good book on my Kindle.

-Lazy Sunday afternoon naps.
-Lots of smooches from my man.
-A phone call from Dad announcing that I'm in the running for winning our March Madness pool.
-Sitting in our huge chair cuddled up with Ty, Abby, and Bubba. Our tiny family all in one spot, enjoying each other's company. So glad I picked out that chair :)
-The knowledge that in a mere 7 days, we'll get to enjoy a day similar to this one.

That's what I love about Sundays.

homecoming.

My husband was out of town for 5 days this week.
That's the longest we've been apart since we've been married.
Now, if you've never met Ty, he's incredibly loud and outgoing...
so our house was extremely quiet and boring while he was away...which made for a long week.
I was missing him like crazy. Especially at night, when I had to sleep in an empty house.
Abby missed him too...she slept on his pillow all week.
Lucky for us, he sent me this sentimental picture of him in a public bathroom.

He's cute, but the bathroom? I could take it or leave it.
Anyway, he finally came home last night!
And somehow our house is now messier, and he talked at an extremely loud decible most of the night,
but you know what?
I loved every minute of it!
Welcome home, Ty. Missed your loud, messy self more than you know.

i bet i'm the only person on earth...

...who could manage to get a sunburn in March.
It was just too nice out to sit around inside all day, so I took my Kindle outside to our deck to relax in the sun and read a good book.
I figured that, it still being March and all, the sun was still too far away from North America for any serious UV rays to come down and zap me.
I was wrong.
Exhibit A:

I leared a valuable lesson today.
Apparently, you can get a sunburn at any time of year.
It's just normally not nice enough outside in March (it's technically still winter for the next few days) to sit around outside wearing capris.
I now also have my first tan line of the year thanks to those capris.

And in other news...this was the view from outside my front window a little while ago:

Yes, those are horses.
Just meandering down my somewhat busy road on a Sunday evening.
I tell ya...March just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

happiness.

This time, happiness came wrapped in a sparkly, size 8 package.
Not only are they adorable...and COMFY...
They were only $8.99!!!!!
It's always fun to see Ty roll his eyes when he sees me pull yet another pair of shoes out of my shopping bag.
But it's even more fun to be able to answer that eye roll by brandishing the price tag and saying, "Look! Only $8.99!"
So take that eye roll back, mister.
Use your eye power instead for admiring my new fabulous sparkliness.

global warming.

It's March 17...Happy St. Patty's Day!
Ty and I celebrated by checking out a new (to us) restaraunt that my parents suggested.
Since it's the middle of March, I was somewhat caught off guard when the hostess asked, "Do you guys want a table on the patio?"
Yep, that's right. We ate outside on the patio...
in MARCH...in INDIANA!

And in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, my hubby got his beverage in a green cup that we now own.
Clearly it will be put in the cabinet with our crystal... :)

Then after dinner, since it was still 70-something and light out at 8pm,
we took the pups for a walk.
She asked to be decked out in green, of course.
She didn't want to be pinched ya know.
Although some bigger dogs did check her out and sniff her hiney along the way.
Apparently she looks good in green.

Thank you March.
Or better yet, thank you global warming.
So far...I don't get what all the fuss is about.
Just kidding :)
