christmas recap 2019

Christmas 2019 was pretty low-key, but still great! We had a nice time spending Bryson's first Christmas with family. We started off on Christmas Eve going to the candle light service at church with my parents. It started at 7:00, and we typically start getting Bryson ready for bed sometime around 7:45, so I was a little nervous about how he would do. I was pleasantly surprised that he did great! However, I think starting next year, we'll go to an earlier service just to be safe.

Just waiting for Mimi and Grandpa. Look at his sweet little outfit for church!

This picture really accentuates his cheeks! I'm in love!

We are excited to start some new family traditions now that we have a little one. Family Tradition #1: Matching family jammies on Christmas Eve! (If you zoom in closely, you'll see that these are incredibly odd Christmas pet pajamas. Dogs, cats, and lizards with holiday clothing on. Definitely NOT what I would have picked, but I waited too long to order them. By the time I ordered, this was literally the ONLY pattern I could find in all three of our sizes anywhere. Apparently, people take this Christmas pj thing seriously. I've learned my lesson.)

Family Tradition #2: Cinnamon Roll French Toast Casserole. This is something I've done for several years. The only time of year I make this is at Christmas, so it's extra special! Next year, Bryson will even get to have some!

While the casserole was baking, we opened presents. We sat Bryson in his little chair and gave him his first present. He played so nicely with it, that Ty and I were able to open our stockings before we gave him the rest of his gifts. After gifts, he was totally tuckered out!

Then we headed to my parents' house for Christmas dinner and gifts.

This stubborn baby refused to nap on Christmas, and got pretty cranky. Neiko was so sweet with him and kept bringing him toys and blankets to make him comfy so that he'd stop crying.

During Bingo, Ty won some awesome socks! Haha!

After a LONG day, Bryson was definitely ready to get home and get to bed. So we took some family pictures and headed out.

Later that weekend, it was time for the Miller Family Christmas. From the moment we walked in until we left, Bryson was loved on (and overstimulated!)

Caleb has really grown into a cool kid. I know Silas and Lydia love Bryson, but for some reason it means more when a teenage boy thinks your baby is cool enough to hold and spend time with. There's a BIG age gap here, and I know these two probably won't be very close as they get older. So these sweet moments mean a lot to me.

Kim crocheted hats for the girls! They're all from the same yarn, but if you look closely, each hat it a little different, which is cool.

Poor Silas wasn't around much. One, he sounded like he was hacking up a lung, so his mom asked him to stay away from the baby. Two, I think he was kind of offended that when we do "youngest to oldest" when opening gifts, he's not first anymore!

Another great year of memories made. I'm so sad that Bryson will never have another first Christmas, but he'll be at such a fun age this time next year. I'm looking forward to more Christmas traditions in years to come!

weekly recap

The suspenders...I can't!

I started making some stamped book sets for people.

House Update: we've got waterproof insulation!

Wouldn't nap this day...UNTIL I put him in the wrap to go out to the mailbox!

I can't believe that one day he won't want to hold my hand anymore. He won't seek comfort from me in that way. And eventually, these chubby little hands will be bigger than mine.

We were able to get one "good" family picture before saying goodbye to our sweet Abby.

Bryson has become more interested in toys over the last week. He's getting a little better at grasping things, and wants to put things in his mouth. Still working on that coordination.

I read in a book that you should let your baby play naked for a few minutes each day so they can work on making smoother movements without the restriction of clothes. He LOVES it and gets so smiley and giggly when we take his clothes off!

He has started letting me read bedtime stories a couple times a week again. He was a bit impatient with that about a month ago.

Getting ready for Christmas! We got stopped SO many times at the grocery story by people who wanted to tell me how cute he was in his hat!

I'm treasuring these final weeks of swaddling this sweet babe. I know it won't last much longer.

And finally, we had some visitors for the Packers game the other night.

Until next time,
