picture dump

Here's what's been going on the last 10(ish) days. Basically just an obscene amount of pictures of my baby!

This is the current wallpaper on my phone. I just can't get over how cute he is in this picture!

In an effort to not only document the good stuff: this was a bad day. It was a couple Mondays ago, and it was one of those days where it seems like unless he was eating or sleeping, he was crying. It wasn't fun. But we gave ourselves some grace, and after a nice nap for both of us, things were much better!

I never ever ever want to forget moments like this!

We've really been working on sitting up and head/neck control lately. He's doing so great! Even though he looks a bit concerned, he really does seem to like sitting up.

Such a big boy!

We took a quick road trip last weekend to go to a tree trimming party with friends. Bryson tends to get a little fussy in the evenings before bedtime, but he was so good! We were even out way past the time we normally put him to bed.

Update: still loves taking a bath, and would prefer to never get out of the water ever.

I can't tell you how many times I get stopped while we're out for someone to tell me how cute this hat is! I'm going to be so sad when it doesn't fit anymore!

Sweet model baby.

I'm finally getting the hang of this wrap to wear him around the house. He likes it, and almost always falls asleep when he's in there.

I was so happy to be invited to my church's MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, even though I don't have a preschooler. I surprised myself my going, because it's out of my comfort zone, but it has really become something I look forward to each month. The moms are all really sweet, and I'm definitely going to miss this group when I go back to work next year.

I think that's it for now...besides our Christmas card photo shoot, which I won't share since not all our cards have been delivered yet. Fun fact: we do all our Christmas cards ourselves. I typically come up with an idea, and we take the photos at home with our own camera. Then I design the cards online and we have them sent to us!

Until next time,
xoxo, wife (& mommy)

we're moving!

Right after closing!

We've lived in our current house exactly 9 years. We love the area we live in, and this has been such a great home for us. But we also knew that we wanted to live in the district that Bryson will go to school in. It has always been my dream to move back to where I went to school (and currently teach), and have my child go there as well.

Ty made that happen for us when he found an oddly shaped lot in a sweet little one-road neighborhood right down the road from my work! It will take MAYBE two minutes to drive there. After digging for some information, he contacted the owner of the lot, who agreed to sell it to us.

We've met with our builder several times to go over everything we want. We've made some adjustments along the way, but I think we have everything pretty much set in stone. We closed on Black Friday, and they broke ground the next Monday morning!

This will obviously be a journey I continue to update on the blog. As long as the winter weather cooperates, we've been given a timeline of moving in sometime between March and May. We are very excited about this new adventure!

three months old

Bryson is officially 3 months old today! I can't believe he's been here a quarter of a year already! I typically only share a couple pictures on social media, but I started this blog up again so that I could post more pictures without being annoying. So without further ado, here are the 3 month photos:

I love this one! He looks like a superhero!

What I get from this comparison is that my child has gained a lot in the head region in the past couple months haha! A bigger head, more chins, and larger cheeks!

Even though he's growing like a weed, he's still a little guy, wearing size 1 diapers and mostly 0-3 month clothing. I've packed away the majority of his newborn clothes, but there are still a couple outfits he can fit into. 3-6 month stuff is still a little big, but not for long! On the rare occasion that you can find just 3 month clothing (Carters), that stuff fits almost perfectly.

Current likes:
-still loving bath time...especially being sprayed with the sprayer
-his changing pad is his favorite place in the world. We get lots of smiles, giggles, and "talking" from that spot
-falling asleep in the car
-Dr. Brown bottles have been a life saver in taking care of some pretty major gas issues we were having last month
-he loves looking at lights (lamps, Christmas lights, fluorescent lighting, windows/doors
-when we stick our tongues out at him. This almost always guarantees a smile, and he often sticks his tongue back out at you too!
-when I go get him up in the morning or after his long afternoon nap. He's so sweet and smiley!

Current dislikes:
-still not a huge fan of his bath being over, but he's not screaming and crying when I turn the water off, so we're making progress!
-waiting too long for a bottle. When he decides he wants to eat, he wants to eat NOW
-being left alone for too long. He'll "play" by himself for about 5-10 minutes, but then gets lonely
-hiccups. Sometimes they don't bother him much, but other times he has some real doozies that bug him
-bed time stories. A favorite last month, he now hates it. He would rather eat instead of read. Such a man haha!

Ty and I are so excited to spend his first Christmas with him this year! We love seeing his little personality develop, and still can't believe he's here and that we get to keep him!

the power was out alllllll day

The morning before Thanksgiving, Ty came into the bedroom around 7:30am and woke me up. He told me that a huge tree across the street had fallen in some crazy winds we were having and that a power line had snapped. We were without power.

Now yes...we are technically millennials. But we can function without power. We might be super bored, but we can function. The problem was that it was pretty cold, we have well water (which means NO water when the power is out), and a baby who drinks bottles and needs water for those bottles.

So we hung around for a little while, but it was obvious that the power would not be back on any time soon. So Bryson and I headed over to my mom and dad's to hang out until the power came back on, and then Ty joined us a few hours later.

The first of three Thanksgiving outfits this year. He's so stinking cute!

The power finally came back on around 4:00pm and we were able to head back home. I'm so thankful that we have parents who live close enough that we can just run over when we need to...it was a huge help!

baby's first thanksgiving

There are so, so many things to be thankful for this year. Obviously my biggest blessing this year has been the birth of my sweet baby, and a brand new adventure for our little family.

Some other things I'm thankful for:

-the end of my pregnancy (ha!)
-my amazing husband who has turned into the sweetest daddy
-my mom's health after a really rough winter and spring
-mine and ty's families
-the fact that my job is allowing me to take an entire school year off in order to stay home with Bryson
-a warm home and nice cars for our family

...and obviously so many more. I really could go on for days.

But in keeping with the title of this post, I now present to you: Bryson's first Thanksgiving. After our sweet little Halloween photo shoot, I had to make sure I was able to do something cute for his next "first" holiday. So naturally, I put a little turkey hat on him and put him in a pot to cook him up!

I still can't believe he let me do this to him. I also can't believe that he seemed to like it. But he tends to enjoy being scrunched up, so that must be why.

Then we headed over to my parents' house for a delicious meal with family.

He sat in this swing and eventually fell asleep long enough for Ty and I to enjoy our ENTIRE meal!

Sweet little turkey butt!

Diaper change turned into Ty and I loving our sweet little man. We're obsessed. It's okay.

The next day we headed over to Ty's parents' house for a nice meal with them as well.

Ty's mom and I made these cute Christmas trees as an after dinner craft!

Like always, I wish I would've taken more pictures. But it is what it is...maybe I'll do better next year!
Happy Thanksgiving!
